Official Debian kernels (from deb.debian.org) likely do not yet support the Raspberry Pi 5 well (as of mid-2025).
Upstream/mainline Linux is still catching up with RPi 5-specific hardware (PCIe, HDMI, VideoCore, bootloader quirks).
You may be booting with a Debian userspace, but non-Debian kernel — often Raspberry Pi Foundation's kernel8.img.
I direct download kernel8.img to my boot sector so as to work...
