MiscBits - I started this project out with the Pico actually.
I switched to the zero so I could continuously improve the logic as it ran without going out to plug into it.
Additionally I can VNC into the zero to look at an excel time stamp log for debug (Each action is time stamped and logged in a xls file.

Excuse my slang.
I ran this setup for a month on my desk using a small heater and a glass of water.
I learnt that if I hit the stop button in thonny, the outputs maintained their state which was concerning.
I have yet to see the system hang outside of that, I'm more so thinking about it proactively.
I'm running the first option in the latest pi imager - Raspberry Pi OD (Legacy,32-bit) 2024-03-12

I'm a PLC programmer for the most part; I'm pretty new to computers (I played with PIC muc's in college years ago).
I tend to get involved with physical processes far more than how computers actually work so excuse my ignorance on this one.
*Safety Relay contact and SSR output are wired in Series, I'm good with it.
To your point - I do periodically update an excel file already.
Is there an example online I could follow to pull off what your suggesting ?
I currently remote into the PI, open the file in thonny and press play. Is this referred to as a process when its running ?
