That is the best way IMO. If Pico SDK directly supported all this, including the standard posix commands for accessing the MSD file system, reading and writing files exactly as would be done in desktop C programs, things would be so much easier.I wrote software using pico-sdk with tinyusb to transform the Pico into a USB Mass Storage Class device
I recall Raspberry Pi saying that support for file systems may come in a future SDK release. I have no idea how it has progressed and can't remember what others have produced towards that end. I do remember there was work done on the posix interface, with just one of functions proving tricky to provide, which I think may have been worked round.
It's probably worth doing a forum search.
