Here is a 38-year-old reason:Because it's a new feature ! It's not like if network shares existed for over 50 years !Why does Pi Imager only allow loading or saving from drives which are physically present on the host - C: and D: here -
And not those which are mapped or networked as most other load and save dialogues do - M:, P:, U:, X: and Y: present here but not accessible via Imager -
Data read from a network share over Ethernet networking may cause a buffer underflow when writing to CD-R media. The resulting coaster is why it's not allowed to read from the network.
