Samba is the implementation of the SMB protocol that Windows uses, so as far as that goes, there isn't much difference between Windows and Samba shares. Windows used to use NetBIOS for browsing, but this is very insecure and has now been replaced by Network Discovery and you need to use a program called wsdd for that.Browsing the windows network from RaspiOS does not really work (it only works for samba shares from other Linux hosts which are not real windows shares) but it's still possible to use our windows servers and shares interactively as I indicated above or by mounting shares permanently
