Hi, I’m having trouble recovering my Raspberry Pi 5. I accidentally broke the bootloader while experimenting with PCIe settings in config.txt. I used the official Raspberry Pi Imager to flash the “Raspberry Pi 5 Bootloader – SD Boot” image onto an SD card. When I boot with the SD card inserted, I get the solid green HDMI screen, which I believe means the EEPROM recovery completed successfully but there was red light and crazy fast green light blinking, even though the guide that I used said that green light will start blinking slowly after the flash is done.
But when I remove the SD card and try to boot from a USB drive with Raspberry Pi OS (64‑bit) flashed using Raspberry Pi Imager, the Pi won’t boot — no HDMI output and no normal green LED activity. It just sits there.
I’ve tried multiple USB ports and reflashing the OS, but the Pi still won’t boot from USB after the EEPROM recovery. Do you have any idea what might be causing this or what I should try next? All I get is solid red with 3 slow flashing green then 3 fast flashing green then it repeats.
Thanks for your time
