I'll bite. PHP is at the level that every other language should have been at years ago. The whole point of having programming languages is to give a nicer, easier user interface than binary or machine code, it should not be there to regiment people into a certain way of thinking or programming.
PHP is one of the most flexible and complete languages around, it provides the tools to use it how you wish, its C roots are very obvious but it has moved on considerably. It used to be knocked (like BASIC) because it was interpreted, however now that (trashy) Python is all the rage that argument is completely mute.
I can't think of anything missing from PHP, can you?
