Using a Pi 4b bookwor, and the same Uputronics GPS board the GPS fix is fine while mounting and unmounting a USB3 thumbdrive.
When mounting the thumbdrive I used a USB3 port.
Can't say anything about PPS because I haven't got that working yet.
