My decision to get me a LiFePO4 battery as power backup was a gamble. It wasn't one taken without any consideration though, and till now it proved to be the right one for me. In 2035 I will tell you if it really was.
And on the subject of the cheap and easy part in the title of this post.
I can tell you, after I did all the necessary reading, it was dead easy. I just bought the appropriate stuff - the USB powered cable a €11.79 -, and I didn't buy what's not needed anymore - the RPi PSU a €9,30 -.
There is the cheap, a wired LAN connection for €2,49.
