I’ve got a similar setup — Pi 4 with UPS and touch display. Firefox feels slow for me too, especially on heavier sites. Switching to Chromium helped a bit, and using zram improved responsiveness.
For battery, I turn off HDMI (tvservice -o) and Bluetooth when not needed. Also been testing a lighter OS recently — feels snappier so far. Will see how it holds up long term.
