• Switch to X11 using Raspi-config
Install cinnamon
• Sudo apt install cinnamon-desktop-environment
• Sudo update-alternatives –config x-session-manager
◦ Set to cinnamon
•
(from viewtopic.php?t=357635)
Install your new desktop, when complete, edit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
Scroll down and look for autologin-user and comment "#" that out, if you dont do this you wont be able to chose your desktop.
Then look for greeter-session=pi-greeter and replace with greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter
Save and reboot, at the log in screen, top right you should then be able to select what desktop you wish to use by clicking on the little icon in the upper right taskbar.
