The system logger I'm mostly working with is rsyslog, simply because it has so many features that when a customer asks for something special regarding logging, rsyslog most probably has it.With Bookworm everything that went to /var/log/syslog now goes to the systemd journal.
You're right, duplication of processes, even in large non-embedded computers has no reason to take place. But then as I reckon, systemd is modular, which means that journald could be disabled ?
