Don't full upgrade but do a
sudo rpi-update
This will put you on the same 6.12 kernel, but not update all the other bits of the OS
You'll know if it is the kernel then.
That gpio12 rings a bell but I thought that was a change in 6.6 and so blinka would have fixed it (it may have been another GPIO number).
