Yes, sure, it can't match new stuff. It is older hardware that gets decommissioned and dumped on ebay etc so price is the main advantage. As for performance it doesn't feel slow (like Pi4/CM4 sometimes does) I just guess from Geekbench results that the CPU definitely can't match Pi5 (don't have one). OTOH it does 4k/60Hz output over hdmi and usb-c (in windows 10, only 30Hz in Ubuntu 22.04 for some reason) and plays vp9 youtube 4k/60fps videos hardware decoded. Also the disk I/O and wifi is faster than Pi4 and more RAM helps too. And working suspend is a bonus too. GPU is weak but well supported in Linux and possibly still faster than any Pi. My random unscientific not practical CPU+GPU benchmark of various thin clients is opening https://wasm.continuation-labs.com/d3demo/ in Chrome in Linux and checking FPS when the marine first gets from the ship without moving the mouse. This Wyse laptop gives about 25FPS with TDP raised to 15W and about 15FPS when kept at 6W. I wonder how much FPS Pi5 gets there? Also I wonder if suspend to ram is something that might be working on the Pi5/CM5 at some point? I think it was mentioned previously when Pi5 came out that some HW changes makes it possible.looks close to what I want but I think pi 5 level performance and the ability to upgrade to newer cm versions in future gives this new device an edge.
