I recommend that you don't use a WD NVMe drive. Multiple versions have had issues reported.

Which drive is that? As it is enumarated on the bus please post the output of

using multiple WD drives as well as Sandisk equivalents with no issues at all.
WD Blue SN550 is one of them is is pretty hasr on PCIe gen3.
Telling people to avoid certain brands lets me tell people that there were reports of non working official NVMe .. Nobody ever answed on that :shock:

You've messed around with EEPROM - as there is nothing to be changed when booting from NVMe - hence show us what you did.
