Hey thanks for getting back to me! I'll give this a go tonight.

I'm interested in the individual frames, does libcamera-vid still give me access to them?

Look at --segment option, --segment 1 will save individual frames.

Eg.

rpicam-vid -n --codec mjpeg -t 10000 --segment 1 -o /run/shm/test%d.jpg

Will save jpgs to ram
