Seems so. Looks like it's their attempt to bring "ensh-ttification" to the masses Image may be NSFW.This appears to be a change in behaviour in phpBB 3.3.12, see https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2654323 (and the code change in https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/commit/e ... 3791f3f664).
Clik here to view.

Using "Unread Posts" (40 pages, 1000 items) or "Active Topics" (18 pages, 433 items) seems to be the pragmatic alternative to using "New Posts" which is now utterly useless IMO, just 6 items currently and often less.
I think I am favouring "Unread Posts" because "Active Topics" shows threads I have read and am not interested in further. And it seems to me to be the same as "New Posts" originally was for those who auto-login.
The hard part will be breaking the habit and muscle memory of a lifetime, expectation that "New Posts" will do what one expects. Maybe a TamperMonkey script will allow "New Posts" to be aliased to something else or removed altogether from the Burger menu and elsewhere.
A side-question for Mods : Is using an uncensored "ensh-ttification" deemed acceptable for this forum ?
