Not sure because of a test I did where I connected only the 5V and GND pins through wires -> same result.Might it help to share the details of the pinouts on the 2x20-way header of your custom PCB?
What I know about the PCB: it has a 40 pin header extension soldered into it, in which the Pi can be "plugged into". Power comes from a NID65-05. I will get more information, and also analyse the full bootloader output, as soon as I get the debug probe.
